Getting there by bus Tórshavn is the hub of the whole network: the regional routes start at the Farstøðin terminal at Eystara Bryggja and the free town buses from Steinatún square, a different place. Check each listing's meeting point against both.

Getting there by bus Route 300 runs from Tórshavn via Vágar Airport to Sørvágur, the ferry port for Mykines; ferry route 36 crosses in season only, on a separate ticket the Tourist Travel Card does not cover. On the current timetables Gásadalur's bus answer is awkward, which is where a guided day earns its place.

Getting there by bus Routes 400 and 401 run from Tórshavn to Klaksvík, the hinge of the northern network. Route 201 to Gjógv is a request service: every departure must be booked by telephone in advance.

Getting there by bus Vestmanna, the harbour the bird-cliff boats leave from, is one of the simplest destinations to reach from Tórshavn without a car. Check which harbour a sea tour names before planning the bus.

Getting there by bus Saksun has no scheduled bus service at all, and the west of Vágar has none at weekends; those are the gaps the guided days cover. Suðuroy is a two-hour crossing from Tórshavn on M/F Smyril, then route 700 from end to end.
