What the operator publishes

  • Route 100 is the western Streymoy service: Tórshavn, the Kollafjørður tunnel, Kvívík and Vestmanna.
  • SSL notes that on certain trips you must change between routes 100 and 300 at the Effo station in Kollafjarðardalur; the timetable marks which.

The part people forget

Getting back from Vestmanna

The boat operators set the sailing times, and the bus timetable is not built around them. Book the boat first, then work backwards to the bus — and check the last departure back to Tórshavn before you book an afternoon sailing.

Where Vestmanna is

An approximate centre for the settlement. It is not a bus stop, a boarding point or a trailhead — check the operator's own stop names against the route page before you rely on it.

Once you are there

Vestmanna in brief

Vestmanna is the harbour on the west coast of Streymoy that the bird-cliff boat trips leave from, and it is one of the simplest destinations to reach from Tórshavn without a car.

The bird cliffs

Boat trips run out along the sea cliffs and into the caves north of the village.

Kvívík

The route passes Kvívík, where Viking-age house foundations sit beside the stream.

A workable day out

One bus each way and a boat in between makes this the most straightforward car-free excursion from the capital.

Good to know

  • Sailings are weather-dependent, so keep the bus plan flexible rather than booking the last bus back tightly.
