The part people forget
Getting back from Mykines
This is the most weather-exposed return in the country. An Atlantic crossing on a small vessel can be cancelled at short notice in either direction, which means being left on Mykines overnight is a real outcome rather than a theoretical one. Never plan a Mykines day immediately before a flight home.

Walking and hiking connections
The walk out to the lighthouse on Mykineshólmur is the reason most people come. It is a cliff-edge path with a footbridge over the sound, and it is closed or restricted at times for seabird protection — check the current position before travelling.
