Faroe Islands ferries
Strandfaraskip Landsins operates seven scheduled ferry routes directly. Four of them matter to most visitors, and they behave very differently from each other — one is seasonal and excluded from the travel card, another is a two-hour ocean crossing.

The short version
Nólsoy is 30 minutes from the middle of Tórshavn and is the easiest island trip in the country. Kalsoy is 20 minutes from Klaksvík and pairs with an island bus. Mykines is seasonal from Sørvágur and is not covered by the Tourist Travel Card. Suðuroy is a published 2h 05min from Tórshavn.

The four crossings visitors use
- 36 Sørvágur – Mykines The seasonal crossing from Sørvágur to Mykines, the puffin island at the western edge of the archipelago.
- 7 Suðuroy – Tórshavn The long southern crossing on M/F Smyril, between Tórshavn and Krambatangi for Tvøroyri on Suðuroy.
- 90 Tórshavn – Nólsoy Half an hour from the centre of Tórshavn to Nólsoy, the island you can see from the harbour.
- 56 Klaksvík – Kalsoy Twenty minutes from Klaksvík to Syðradalur on Kalsoy — the island of the Kallur lighthouse walk.

These are part of the same scheduled network but serve islands this guide does not yet cover. They are listed so the overview is honest about its own coverage rather than implying the network is four routes.
- 58 Hvannasund – Hattarvík Svínoy and Fugloy.
- 61 Gamlarætt – Hestur Hestur, from the Sandoy bus corridor.
- 66 Sandur – Skúvoy Skúvoy, from Sandoy.
