What stops at the airport

Route 300 — the one to rely on

The airport bus. Route 300 links Tórshavn's bus and ferry terminal with Vágar Airport and continues to Sørvágur, the port for the Mykines ferry.

Not published as a weekday-only service, which is what makes it the connection to plan around.

Route 350 — weekdays, and further west

The weekday extension west. Route 350 follows the same corridor as route 300 and continues beyond Sørvágur to Bøur, the closest published stop to Gásadalur.

Monday to Friday only, with a small number of trips each way. At weekends there is no published service west of Sørvágur.

Where you can get to from the airport

Tórshavn — route 300 straight through. This is the default for most arrivals.
Sørvágur — route 300 continues west. It is the port for the Mykines ferry and a practical car-free base.
Bøur and the west of Vágar — weekday route 350 only.
Klaksvík — no through service. The operator publishes a route 300 to 400 connection at the Kollafjørður tunnel stop, but it requires prior notification; otherwise change in Tórshavn.

If you land late

Evening arrivals

Scheduled departures thin out in the evening across the whole network. If your flight lands late, confirm the last route 300 departure on our route 300 page before you rely on it, and have a fallback in mind — a pre-booked transfer or a taxi is a better plan than discovering the problem in the arrivals hall.

Before you leave the terminal

Luggage, cash, SIM cards and the information desk

The terminal is small and the bus is outside the door, so most of what matters is what the airport does not have. Sort these out before the bus leaves.

There is no luggage storage at the airport. Visit Faroe Islands says there is a storage at the bus terminal in Tórshavn, at the other end of route 300; it publishes no hours or prices, so ask there. For empty boxes, such as a bicycle box, the airport asks you to contact its administration at [email protected].
There is no exchange office or ATM at the airport. The nearest banks are two on the main road in Miðvágur, a stop on route 300.
Bus tickets can be bought on board, and 4- and 7-day travel cards are sold at the airport's information desk.
The information desk opens around the regular flights and stays open for half an hour after an arrival. It sells local SIM cards — worth having, because the tourist board warns that several international providers do not include the Faroe Islands in roaming.
The airport marks where the taxis are, in the parking zone outside the terminal; several companies serve the airport.

Landing in the evening: the questions to answer first

Is there left luggage at Vágar Airport?: No. The tourist board says there is no luggage storage at the airport, and points to a storage at the bus terminal in Tórshavn instead.
Can I get cash at the airport?: No: there is no ATM or exchange office. Bus tickets are sold on board; if you need cash, the nearest banks are in Miðvágur, a stop on route 300.
I land late. What is still open?: The information desk stays open for half an hour after an arrival, for travel cards and SIM cards. Look up the last route 300 departure on our route 300 page before you fly; if it has gone, the airport marks where the taxis are, in the parking zone outside.
